Dr. Susanne Marshall is the Director of the Master’s of Arts program in Cross-disciplinary Studies (MACS). Dr. Marshall was born and raised in Salzburg, Austria. She came to the United States for college, completing a B.A. degree in Spanish at the University of Redlands and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of California, Riverside. After two years as an adjunct faculty member in English and World Literature at Columbia College and Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina, Dr. Marshall moved to Cleveland, Ohio, with her husband. She accepted a faculty appointment in the department of International Studies at Lake Erie College, where she became the founding director of the college’s International Center in 1998. As Director of the International Center, Dr. Marshall developed and implemented a recruitment plan for international and minority students, collaborated with social service agencies and the corporate community to meet the needs of area immigrants from Latin America, and recruited and prepared students for a semester abroad. Dr. Marshall also spearheaded efforts to raise funds to support international programs and initiatives, bringing in more than $200,000 to benefit the International Center.

In September 2003 Dr. Marshall joined Nova Southeastern University and moved to South Florida with her husband, her daughter, and her German shepherd. The Marshalls have many friends in the area and are ready to enjoy the sunshine they missed so much during their time in Cleveland.
