Diversity
Conversations: Creating a Redemptive Atmosphere
Presenters
will show how creating a safe atmosphere of acceptance and
openness when discussing diversity issues can stimulate enriching,
redemptive (i.e., therapeutic) conversations and outcomes.
Participants will not only be challenged, but also motivated
to move beyond political correctness to actively and willingly
engaging in conversations about difference.
This workshop will illustrate how to create an environment
to address difficult topics associated with “isms”
plus offer ways to recreate similar communities. We will also
demonstrate how open dialog and risk-taking can create accepting,
non-violent and collaborative societies.
Objectives
Workshop participants will increase their:
-
ability to acknowledge, accept and challenge their own biases
- ability
to be redemptive in diversity conversations
- ability
to accept—not tolerate— Others”
