The DFT and the DCAR each offer some graduate assistantships (GA) for doctoral students. GA positions are offered for one academic year only, commencing with the Fall trimester and ending in summer, dependent on the availability of funds. These positions are non-renewable. Positions are for a maximum of 20 hours per week. Continuation of the assistantship is reviewed by the faculty committee after each trimester based on the student’s academic and GA performance. GA’s must maintain a full-time course load, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and remain otherwise in good academic standing.

Compensation includes a partial tuition waiver and a stipend of $5,000 for the year. GA’s must be enrolled in an on-campus degree program. Each GA assists and works closely with assigned faculty. The GA’s duties may include but will not be limited to assisting the faculty member in developing and conducting research, preparing and facilitating grants and contracts, and conducting research relevant to course preparation, and community outreaching.

Students enrolled in the programs in College Student Personnel Administration are eligible for GA positions through NSU’s Division of Student Affairs. Compensation for these positions is room, board, tuition waiver, and a stipend. GA’s in these positions work closely with the Dean of Student Affairs and other campus life administrators.
