School of Humanities and Social Sciences



The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences' commencement ceremonies will take place on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. 

Families, friends, and the general public are cordially invited to attend commencement. Tickets are not required but seating is limited and large groups of guests wishing to sit together should arrive early.

The arena doors open one hour prior to the published start time of the ceremony for both candidates and their guests. Because seating is limited, please plan accordingly.

Please Note:
Due to the size of the Arena at the Don Taft University Center and as a courtesy to all candidates and their guests, the saving of seats is strictly prohibited.

At the UC, all wheelchair-accessible seating is located on the second floor of the arena. Only one guest may accompany those who require wheelchair-accessible seating so as to secure enough seats for all of our guests with special needs.

Important Information Regarding Security Procedures at The Arena in the Don Taft University Center (UC) For the protection of our guests, the following are not permitted inside commencement: wrapped gifts, air horns, balloons, duffle bags, backpacks, backpack-style purses, diaper bags, waist packs, oversized/large purses, alcohol, bottles, food, cans, thermoses, coolers, drugs, chains, fireworks, weapons, noisemakers, laser pointers, chains, spikes, strollers, and any other item deemed dangerous to public safety. No animals, except certified service animals, will be admitted. Anyone entering the The Arena at the Don Taft University Center (UC) may be subject to a physical search and/or metal detection.

Smoking is never permitted at any NSU Commencement ceremony.

Neither the University nor the UC is responsible for items left unattended.

During the commencement ceremony graduates will be called to the stage, announced as a candidates, and be awarded certificates of congratulations. Diplomas will not be distributed at commencement. In order to receive the official diploma, graduating students must submit an Application for Degree Diploma to the Office of the University Registrar
